New eye scan could replace dye injections for diabetic retinopathy
NCT ID NCT02330042
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a special type of eye scan (functional OCT) can detect early blood vessel damage in people with diabetic retinopathy without needing a dye injection. Researchers will compare the new scan to the standard dye-based test in 165 adults with diabetes. The goal is to find a safer, easier way to monitor this leading cause of blindness.
