New dissolving nasal dressing could improve sinus surgery recovery
NCT ID NCT07286201
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares a new biodegradable nasal dressing that slowly releases a steroid (mometasone furoate) to a standard steroid-releasing stent, both used after sinus surgery. About 110 adults with chronic sinusitis (with or without nasal polyps) will receive the new dressing in one nostril and the standard stent in the other. The goal is to see if the new dressing is as safe and effective at promoting wound healing.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
mometasone furoate
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a safer, absorbable alternative to current steroid stents for improving healing after sinus surgery.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage, non-randomized comparison with only 110 participants. The dressing may not prove superior or could have unexpected side effects.
