Lung cancer study watches and waits: no new treatment, just observation
NCT ID NCT01279408
First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looked at how doctors currently treat patients with a type of advanced lung cancer (non-small cell) that is located in the center of the chest and is not causing symptoms. The goal was to see whether doctors choose to give radiation right away or wait until symptoms appear. 46 patients were followed for up to a year to track their symptoms, quality of life, and treatment timing. No new treatment was tested; the study simply observed real-world practice.
