Can a special diet protect aging brains? new study tests two options in rural communities
NCT ID NCT06121986
First seen Mar 09, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looks at whether two different diets—a Mediterranean diet and a modified Mediterranean-ketogenic diet—can improve gut and brain health in older adults living in underserved rural areas. About 61 people aged 55-85, some with mild memory problems and some without, will follow one of the diets for 10 weeks. Researchers will check if participants stick to the diets and measure changes in gut bacteria and thinking skills over a year.
