Summary
This study tested whether drinking a special nutritional formula for just 3 days before gastrointestinal cancer surgery could help reduce complications after the operation. Researchers compared this short pre-surgery nutrition plan to a standard approach in 107 well-nourished patients. The goal was to see if this brief intervention could strengthen the immune system and lead to fewer infections and a shorter hospital stay.
