Summary

This study tested a program to help nursing home staff better discuss and record care preferences for people with Alzheimer's or related dementias. The goal was to reduce unwanted hospital visits by making sure patients' wishes are known and followed. Over 47,000 residents in nursing homes across the U.S. took part, with some homes using the new program and others continuing usual care.
