First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a teleconsultation with a specially trained nurse can reduce psychological distress in adults recently diagnosed with a primary brain tumor. 58 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either usual care or usual care plus one nurse-led video call before their first cancer treatment. The goal is to see if the extra support improves distress, anxiety, and quality of life scores.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
nurse-led teleconsultation for psychological support
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a simple, remote way to reduce distress for brain cancer patients before starting treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial (58 participants) testing a support service, not a treatment. The benefit may be small or not apply to all patients.
