New magnesium membrane could boost dental implant success
NCT ID NCT06059898
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This completed trial tested a new magnesium membrane (NOVAMag) against a standard collagen membrane (Jason) for rebuilding jawbone in 106 people needing dental implants. The goal was to see if the magnesium membrane is as good at promoting bone growth. Researchers measured bone volume with X-rays and biopsies after six months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
bioresorbable magnesium membrane (NOVAMag)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a stronger, fully resorbable option for rebuilding jawbone, potentially improving dental implant success.
What could go wrong
This is a completed early-stage comparison, not a large-scale trial. The magnesium membrane may not prove better than the existing collagen option, and individual healing varies.
