Could a nordic diet help kids with Crohn's?
NCT ID NCT07334340
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a Nordic version of the Crohn's Disease Exclusion Diet in 30 children aged 6-18 with mild-to-severe Crohn's disease. The diet avoids inflammatory foods and gradually reintroduces unprocessed items over 20 weeks. Researchers will measure remission rates, diet adherence, and quality of life, comparing results to published data on the original diet.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Nordic Crohn's Disease Exclusion Diet (N-CDED)
What this could lead to
If successful, this diet could offer a more personalized and easier-to-follow nutritional therapy for children with Crohn's disease, potentially reducing symptoms and the need for steroids.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 30 participants and no control group, so results may not apply to all children. The diet is demanding and may be hard to stick with long-term.
