Scientists test 'Skin Hearing' headset for future hearing aids

NCT ID NCT05112809

Summary

Researchers at Mayo Clinic tested a new type of wearable headset that aims to help people hear by sending sound signals through electrodes placed on the skin. The study involved 68 healthy volunteers to figure out the best settings for the device and to see how well people could understand speech in quiet and noisy environments. This early research is gathering information to help develop future hearing technology, not testing a treatment.
