New hope for kids: simple blood tests could replace scary scopes

NCT ID NCT07464522

Summary

This study aims to find less invasive ways to detect dangerous swollen veins (varices) in the food pipes of children with high blood pressure in their liver veins. Researchers will test if simple blood tests and ultrasound measurements can accurately predict which children have these veins and how severe they are, compared to the current standard of using a scope under anesthesia. The goal is to create a safer screening protocol that reduces the need for invasive procedures in young patients.
