No needles, no pain: new oral cancer screening methods put to the test

NCT ID NCT07249437

First seen Dec 15, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests two non-invasive methods—high-resolution oral imaging and a gentle cell-collection technique—to screen for oral cancer. Researchers want to see if these methods can find suspicious spots as well as or better than standard visual exams and biopsies. The study includes 400 adults aged 30-80 who have oral precancerous lesions, with or without a past head or neck cancer. If successful, these techniques could make screening easier, more accurate, and more comfortable for patients.
