Old drug, new hope: repurposed pill targets root of debilitating Women's pain

NCT ID NCT03928288

Summary

This study tested whether adding an existing, non-hormonal drug called cabergoline to standard hormonal therapy could better control the chronic pain of endometriosis. It involved 129 adolescent and adult women with surgically-confirmed endometriosis who were already on hormonal treatment but still had significant pain. Participants were randomly assigned to take either cabergoline or a placebo (sugar pill) twice a week for six months to see if it safely reduced their pain and improved daily life.
