First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding neuromuscular electrical stimulation to resistance exercises can improve leg strength and physical function in hospitalized adults (ages 47-70) with alcoholic liver cirrhosis and muscle loss (sarcopenia). Half of the 112 participants will receive the combined therapy, while the other half does resistance exercises alone. The goal is to help patients recover faster and reduce hospital readmissions.
