Scientists supercharge Kids' own immune cells to fight cancer

NCT ID NCT02573896

Summary

This early-stage study is testing a new combination treatment for children and young adults whose neuroblastoma has come back or hasn't responded to standard therapies. Doctors take a patient's own natural killer (NK) immune cells, grow large numbers of them in a lab, and then infuse them back along with two other drugs (dinutuximab and lenalidomide) to help the cells attack the cancer. The main goals are to see if this process is safe, figure out the best dose, and learn if the treatment shows signs of fighting the tumor.
