Could a heart drug ointment soothe hemorrhoid pain?
NCT ID NCT07391501
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether nitroglycerin ointment, a drug often used for chest pain, can reduce pain after rubber band ligation for internal hemorrhoids. About 68 adults with grade I-III hemorrhoids will apply the ointment or a placebo three times daily for two weeks after the procedure. The main goal is to see if fewer people need rescue pain medication within 72 hours.
