Beetroot boost: study tests if nitrate helps seniors supercharge workouts
NCT ID NCT07572266
First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether adding a nitrate-rich supplement to a standard exercise program can help older adults (60+) gain more fitness and muscle benefits. About 226 healthy but inactive seniors will do 12 weeks of combined endurance and resistance training, with some taking the supplement and others a placebo. The goal is to see if the supplement reduces the number of people who don't get meaningful improvements from exercise.
