First seen Apr 16, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study is for people with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (a type of mouth cancer) who are scheduled for surgery. Researchers want to see if taking nisin, a natural food preservative, is safe and can change the bacteria in the mouth in a helpful way. About 40 participants will take nisin for two weeks before surgery and up to six months after. The goal is to find the best dose and see if it helps control the disease.
