New graft aims to improve nipple reconstruction after mastectomy

NCT ID NCT04534010

Summary

This small, terminated pilot study tested a special graft made from donated human tissue for reconstructing the nipple and areola after breast cancer surgery. The main goal was to see how safe it was and how long it took to heal. Researchers also wanted to measure patient satisfaction, body image, and the final look and feel of the reconstructed nipple.
