NCT ID NCT05457634

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study looked at how much nicotine gets into the blood and how strong the urge to smoke is when using blu disposable e-cigarettes compared to regular cigarettes. Twenty adult smokers who smoke at least 10 cigarettes a day took part. They used both their usual cigarette and different flavored blu e-cigarettes in controlled sessions to measure nicotine levels and smoking behavior.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

nicotine (from e-cigarettes and combustible cigarettes)

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could help regulators understand how e-cigarettes compare to regular cigarettes in terms of nicotine delivery and addiction potential.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed study with only 20 healthy smokers, so results may not apply to all smokers or long-term use. It does not test health effects or quitting success.
