Scientists test nicotine delivery to understand smoking addiction

NCT ID NCT05176418

Summary

This study aims to understand how different amounts and speeds of nicotine delivery affect both the rewarding 'high' and the relief from smoking cravings. Researchers at Yale will give 70 smokers controlled intravenous nicotine doses that mimic smoking, while they puff on a nicotine-free e-cigarette. The goal is to gather knowledge about nicotine addiction to potentially inform future treatments, not to provide direct treatment benefits to participants.
