Could a simple pill boost breast milk for fragile NICU babies?
NCT ID NCT04614714
Summary
This study is testing whether a dietary supplement called nicotinamide riboside (NR) can help mothers of babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) produce more breast milk. It will involve 40 mothers whose babies are expected to stay in the NICU for at least four weeks. Mothers will take either the NR supplement or a placebo (a pill with no active ingredient) for 19 days while researchers measure milk volume and composition.
