Vitamin B3 tested as potential new weapon against debilitating migraines
NCT ID NCT05846373
Summary
This study investigated whether adding nicotinic acid (a form of vitamin B3) to a standard migraine prevention medication (a beta-blocker) could better control migraines. For 12 weeks, 58 adults with frequent moderate-to-severe migraines received either a 500mg dose, a 1000mg dose, or a placebo pill in addition to their usual medication. Researchers measured changes in the number of migraine days, headache severity, and quality of life to see if the vitamin supplement provided extra benefit.
