First seen Apr 23, 2026 ยท Last updated Apr 23, 2026
Summary
This study aims to create a quick, easy urine test to detect Schistosoma haematobium infection, a parasitic disease common in parts of Africa. About 2500 participants, including people with confirmed infection and healthy controls, will provide a single urine sample. The new test uses special proteins called nanobodies to find a parasite antigen, and its accuracy will be compared to the standard microscope method.
