String vs. scope: a simpler test for a painful swallowing disease?

NCT ID NCT07027826

Summary

This study is testing a new, simpler way to diagnose eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), a condition that causes painful swallowing. Researchers want to see if a swallowable string that collects fluid from the throat is as accurate as the current standard test, which requires a more complex tube (endoscopy). The study involves 70 adults of African descent in the U.S. and Mali who have trouble swallowing.
