New rapid test could slash sepsis diagnosis time in ICU
NCT ID NCT06241248
First seen Jan 19, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tested a new rapid test (OCEAN Dx) for detecting bacteria in the blood of ICU patients with sepsis. The goal was to see if it could identify infections faster than the standard blood culture method, which takes 48-72 hours. 110 adults in the ICU took part. The results will help determine if this faster test can lead to quicker, more effective antibiotic treatment.
