First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a new procedure for people with a completely blocked main portal vein who have had at least two episodes of dangerous variceal bleeding. Doctors will use ultrasound to guide a needle into a vein in the gut, then try to reopen the blocked vein or create a new bypass to lower pressure. Only 15 participants will be enrolled, and the main goals are to see if the procedure works and how safe it is.
