Pancreatic cancer trial aims to supercharge immune system before surgery

NCT ID NCT06048484

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This phase 2 trial tests whether adding drugs that block the tumor's immune-evasion pathways to standard radiation and immunotherapy can boost the body's immune attack on pancreatic cancer before surgery. About 60 patients with advanced pancreatic cancer who are candidates for surgery will receive different combinations of these drugs along with radiation. The main goal is to see if these combos increase cancer-fighting immune cells in the tumor and improve surgical outcomes.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Zimberelimab, Quemliclustat, Etrumadenant, modified FOLFIRINOX, and stereotactic body radiotherapy
What this could lead to
If successful, this could improve immune attack on pancreatic tumors, potentially increasing surgical success and long-term control.
What could go wrong
This is an early phase 2 trial with only 60 participants. The added drugs may cause more side effects, and the immune response may not translate to better outcomes.
