New shot aims to zap surgery pain, cut opioid need

NCT ID NCT07341854

Summary

This study is testing if a new, targeted version of a common steroid drug (dexamethasone palmitate) is better at preventing moderate-to-severe pain after surgery than the standard version. Researchers will give the drug by IV before surgery to about 446 adults having various operations. The main goal is to see if the new drug leads to less severe pain and reduces the need for strong opioid painkillers during recovery.
