New nerve block could slash painkiller use after hip surgery
NCT ID NCT04650100
Summary
This study tested whether adding a new type of nerve block, called a PENG block, to standard pain control methods could better manage pain after hip replacement surgery. Researchers enrolled 64 patients to see if this block could reduce the need for strong painkillers like morphine in the first day after surgery, while also helping patients recover movement faster. The goal was to improve pain relief and patient satisfaction with fewer side effects.
