Shining a new light on cancer: High-Tech mouth scans aim to catch disease early

NCT ID NCT00542373

Summary

This study is testing new imaging tools that use special colored lights to look inside the mouth, aiming to spot pre-cancer or early cancer sooner than standard exams. It involves people at higher risk for oral cancer, such as those with white or red patches, a history of mouth issues, or heavy tobacco use. Doctors compare pictures from the new light devices and simple brush tests to standard methods to see if they can find abnormal cells earlier, when treatment may be more effective.
