Summary

This study is testing a new, non-invasive imaging technology called photoacoustic tomography (PAT) to see if it can help detect and monitor rheumatoid arthritis. The scan combines laser light and ultrasound to create detailed pictures of joints. Researchers are enrolling adults with rheumatoid arthritis and healthy volunteers to see if this tool can spot the disease earlier and more accurately than current methods.
