Quick kidney scan aims to speed up emergency diagnoses
NCT ID NCT04404114
Summary
This study is testing a new type of ultrasound called shear wave elastography to see if it can help doctors quickly figure out if a patient's kidney problem is a new, sudden issue (acute) or a long-term condition (chronic). The test will be given to 800 adults in a hospital emergency department who need a standard kidney ultrasound. Researchers hope this faster, non-invasive method will provide clearer information to guide treatment decisions.
