New approach aims to tame dangerous transplant complication

NCT ID NCT05123040

Summary

This study tested a new combination of three drugs to treat a severe and dangerous complication called acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) that can happen after a stem cell or bone marrow transplant. The main goal was to find the lowest possible dose of steroids (corticosteroids) that could be used safely alongside two other drugs, hoping to reduce steroid side effects while still controlling the disease. The trial was for patients aged 12 and older who had recently been diagnosed with this high-risk condition.
