Special camera helps surgeons see cancer spread during operation
NCT ID NCT00757302
Summary
This study tested a new handheld gamma camera called CarolIReS, used during surgery to help surgeons find and remove the first lymph nodes where breast cancer might spread. It involved 110 patients with early-stage breast cancer. The goal was to see if this camera could improve the accuracy of finding all the important lymph nodes, potentially reducing the need for more extensive surgery.
