New scan could help Crohn's patients avoid unnecessary surgery

NCT ID NCT06252493

Summary

This study is testing a new type of combined PET/MR scan that uses a special dye to find and tell apart scar tissue from inflammation in the bowels of people with Crohn's disease. The goal is to see if this scan can give doctors better information before surgery, potentially helping some patients avoid an operation if their strictures are mostly inflamed and not scarred. Researchers will compare the scan results to what is found during actual surgery and in tissue samples.
