New 'Feel' test for breast cancer could reduce unnecessary biopsies

NCT ID NCT04863443

Summary

This study tested a new ultrasound technique that measures how stiff and stretchy a breast mass is. The goal was to see if this 'Nonlinear Elasticity Mapping' could help doctors better tell if a mass is cancerous or benign without always needing a biopsy. The study involved 172 people with breast masses found on a standard ultrasound.
