Brain implant aims to stop seizures before they begin

NCT ID NCT05439655

Summary

This study is testing a new type of brain implant system to see if it can detect very early, specific brainwave patterns that happen before an epileptic seizure. Researchers will use the device externally (not implanted) on 12 people with drug-resistant epilepsy to see if it can reliably find these signals. If successful, this could lead to a future implant that delivers electrical stimulation to prevent seizures from ever starting.
