Swallow this, skip the scope? new test could ease cancer monitoring

NCT ID NCT07490340

Summary

This study is testing a new, simpler device called Endosign to see if it can be used instead of regular endoscopies to monitor people with Barrett's esophagus, a condition that can lead to esophageal cancer. The device is swallowed like a capsule to collect a small tissue sample, aiming to be less burdensome and costly than current methods. Researchers are checking if the samples it collects are good enough to reliably detect early signs of cancer or cell changes in 60 patients who are already scheduled for their standard endoscopy.
