Breakthrough trial aims to ease breathing crisis for ventilator patients

NCT ID NCT07286409

Summary

This study is testing whether inhaling three different medications (furosemide, heparin, and hypertonic saline) can help adults with severe Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) who are on breathing machines. Researchers want to see if these inhaled treatments can reduce lung fluid, inflammation, and mucus to improve breathing and lung recovery. The trial will include 344 patients who are newly diagnosed with ARDS and receiving mechanical ventilation in intensive care.
