First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at a brain protein called neurofilament in the blood of late preterm babies (born at 34-37 weeks). The goal is to find out what normal levels are and how they change after birth. Up to 15 newborns will give small extra blood samples during routine tests. The results will help doctors better understand and diagnose nerve diseases like spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) in the future.
