Balloon catheter aims to supercharge blood flow during cardiac arrest

NCT ID NCT05444049

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tested a new device called NEURESCUE in 6 adults having a cardiac arrest in the hospital. The device uses a soft balloon in a major artery to quickly send more blood to the heart and brain during CPR. The main goal was to see if doctors could place the balloon within 10 minutes. This is an early feasibility study, not a cure, but it may help improve survival from cardiac arrest.
