First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether injecting a small amount of lidocaine (a numbing medicine) around the ear and jaw can reduce tinnitus severity and related disability. Thirty adults with normal hearing and no other ear conditions will receive the injections and be followed for three months. The goal is to see if this neural therapy approach improves symptoms and quality of life.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a simple injection-based treatment to reduce tinnitus symptoms and improve quality of life.
