Summary

This study tested a device that sends mild electrical pulses to a nerve in the ear to see if it can reduce pain and inflammation in people with a severe type of hand osteoarthritis. 148 adults with painful, swollen finger joints used either the active device or a sham (fake) device for 12 weeks. The goal was to measure changes in hand pain and function.
