Nerve block may help seniors recover faster after hip surgery
NCT ID NCT07163598
First seen Jun 26, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study looked at whether using a nerve block (numbing the leg) instead of general anesthesia (being put to sleep) helps older patients recover faster after total hip replacement. Researchers reviewed records of 516 patients over age 60 who had hip surgery. They compared early recovery outcomes between those who received nerve block alone and those who had general anesthesia. The goal was to see which approach leads to better recovery in the first few days after surgery.
