This study compared two ultrasound-guided nerve blocks for pain after open hysterectomy: the transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block and the ilioinguinal-iliohypogastric (IIH) block. 42 adults having elective surgery were randomly assigned to one block. The main goal was to see which block delayed the need for rescue pain medication longer. The study also measured total painkiller use and pain scores.
