New hope for High-Risk prostate cancer: targeted drug before surgery shows promise
NCT ID NCT05498272
First seen Jan 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study tests whether giving a targeted drug (olaparib) along with hormone therapy for 6 months before prostate removal surgery can improve outcomes for men with aggressive prostate cancer that has specific genetic changes (HRR gene mutations). About 32 men with unfavorable intermediate- or high-risk localized prostate cancer will receive the treatment, then have surgery. The main goal is to see if the cancer disappears or shrinks to very small amounts in the removed prostate.
