Can donated placental tissue help heal stubborn wounds?
NCT ID NCT06918561
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a wound covering made from donated human placental tissue, called NeoThelium FT, for people with chronic open wounds that have not healed for at least 4 weeks. About 132 adults will receive either standard wound care alone or standard care plus NeoThelium FT. The main goal is to see if the treatment leads to complete wound closure.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
NeoThelium FT (a dehydrated wound covering made from donated human placental tissue)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a new treatment option to help chronic open wounds heal faster and more completely.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial with no phase designation, so results are uncertain. The treatment may not prove more effective than standard care alone, and there is a risk of infection or allergic reaction.
