New drug cocktail aims to wipe out hard-to-treat stomach cancer before surgery

Summary

This study tests whether adding a new drug (liposomal irinotecan) to standard chemotherapy before chemoradiation can completely eliminate cancer in people with advanced gastroesophageal cancer. About 40 adults with stage T3/4 or node-positive disease will receive the combination, then surgery. The main goal is to see how many have no cancer cells left in the removed tissue. Side effects will also be tracked.
