First seen Apr 05, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tested two types of injections for people with long-term neck pain caused by hard-to-treat muscle knots in the upper back. 96 adults received either a lidocaine-saline mix or a dextrose (sugar water) solution, plus home exercises. Researchers measured pain, neck movement, and quality of life right after treatment and at 1 and 3 months to see which fluid worked better.
